Allen Kirkpatrik & Co Wholesale Grocers in Pittsburgh, PA went out of business in 1888 making this General Store, Counter Top, Tin, Tea Display Bin at least 133 years old.  It includes three, double-sided, interchangeable, tin signs which slide into the top section of the front to indicate the Variety of Tea being sold.  Varieties include: Eng. Breakfast, Oolong, Younghyson, Gunpowder, Japan & Imperial.
Please examine all photos closely for condition including scratches, rust and dents.  The hinged lid on top is intact.  The “door” on the bottom front is somewhat dented and missing the handle, but it will still roll back to open.  The overall structure of the tin is sound – the only exception being the frame on the top front which holds the slide-in tea variety signs.  It is loose and rusted away in one corner (see photos) – but is still strong enough to hold the signs.
In spite of the scratches and rust, all of the graphics are legible and the lovely main image of the 1800’s lady is colorful and relatively unscathed (see close-up photo).
Approximate Dimensions: 15.75″ Tall x 10.5″ Wide x 13.25″ Deep (at deepest part).
